I have

discussed with Mr. Pudney and he has suggested

that as the Hong Kong Ixchange Fund financial year

commences on the 1st January, it would be reasonable

to terminate the 1942 sutnority as from 31st December,

1946.

I attach draft letter accordingly.

I suggest that after the letter has gone

Eastern Department should then consider whether the

1942 Order in Council should not be completely

repealed.
